HD Projector Screen

Practically everyone wants their home theater to offer the quality and experience of their local neighborhood movie theater. The best way to accomplish that is by equipping your home theater room with a high definition projection system that couples an HD projector with an HD projector screen.

When it comes to an HD projector, the technical specifications are very well defined and understood. When you go to your local electronics store or browse online, all high definition projectors will be clearly labeled as HD projectors. There is no gray area; it either projects an HD quality image or it does not.

However, when it comes to projector screens, that is not exactly case. First of all, there is no industry standard or technical specifications to start with. Since a projector screen simply reflects the image sent from the projector, it cannot be given a technical rating such as HD. The image quality seen on the projection screen is predominantly dependent on the capability of the projector coupled with any ambient light that is present.

So, with that being said, how can you get the highest quality projector screen to get the most from your high definition projector? The most important consideration when looking for a projector screen is the fabric it is made from.

You want to look to look for a projector screen made from a smooth fabric. If a screen's fabric is coarse, it can interfere with an image because its rough structure might be visible with HD projection. Not only is this annoying, but it will detract from the overall movie or home cinema experience.

Another important feature you will want in an HD projector screen is a wrinkle free fabric. Creases and lines are quite common in many screens. While this is not a major issue with standard projectors, it is a significant problem with an HD projection system. Even the slightest distortion or unevenness on the screen will be visible immediately.

If you insist on purchasing a projector screen that is both smooth and wrinkle-free, you will be taking an important step in ensuring the quality of your home theater system. If you have time, go to your local electronics store's showroom and examine the various fabrics of their screens. Also, assess how video images look on the various screens to gauge the performance of each

So even if an HD projector screen doesn't really exist, you can still look for a screen that will maximize the quality your HD projector puts out.
